9 join roofs add opening to create dormer. You cannot join a roof to more than one top face of another roof. This tool is located in the modify tab. Then follow these 2 steps.

Use the join geometry tool to create clean joins between 2 or more host elements that share a common face such as walls and floors. Use it to extend the dormer roof to the main roof. You can join roofs to other roofs or walls or unjoin them if they were previously joined. You can also use the tool to join hosts and in place families or hosts and project families.

A grey square will highlight the join. Put your cursor at the walls junction. The wall must be attached to the target roof and the target roof must be a footprint roof. In the options bar select the don t clean join option and a thick line will appear.

With the join unjoin roof tool selected you need to click on the line of the roof which is on the face of what you want to join to the other roof. As shown in the following illustrations the tool removes the visible edge between the joined elements. The joined elements then share the same line weight and fill. 2 use the wall join tool to remove join cleanup another technique to remove the join clean is to select the wall join tool in the modify tab.

We want to join this face to the roof. You can join a roof to the top face of another roof and the wall below that roof if you select the wall as the target.
